Physical Education

Zida Academy provides children with opportunities to explore different types of sports by learning basic skills such as kicking a ball, controlling the ball, basic rules to games; and as the year progress we begin forming teams to encourage the students to put forth the knowledge they acquired throughout the year. During our Physical Education (P.E.) program students also engage in cooperative games such as parachute games, obstacle courses, what time is it mister wolf, and many others. Our Educators believe Physical Education is important for children to learn their boundaries and strengthen their physical abilities, as well as learn new things about themselves. The P.E program helps young children to begin to develop problem solving, self- evaluation, and decision-making skills while learning about teamwork. Providing children with opportunities to overcome barriers gives them the confidence they need to be successful in life.

Zida Academy is proud to be partnering with Sportball, which brings a top-quality program, delivered by professional coaches. Each class the children enjoy a variety of sports and supervised games in a safe, structured environment. Sportball Multi-Sport skills development programs introduce children to the concepts and skills involved in the eight core sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, tennis, golf, hockey, and baseball) of the Sportball methodology. Sportball uses developmentally appropriate methods to introduce, practice and refine gross motor skills. The programs reinforce the benefits of teamwork and skills development rather than the importance of winning, enabling children to gain the confidence and develop the social skills necessary to succeed in sport and life.


Yoga

Zida Academy provides weekly yoga classes to children to promote self awareness of their body and mind. Yoga teaches children how the body and mind are interconnected and how to control their bodies with simple movements and grace. Children who practise yoga regularly are more confident, have better coordination and are better at dealing with anxiety and stress by learning to incorporate breathing techniques into daily life.
